Tallow that speaks your skin's language
Healthy sebum = healthy skin.
Our skin is an intelligent and living organ. It has
thousands of wells of natural hydration- known as the sebaceous glands (see image).
These glands contain and release a nutrient-rich and multi-functional elixir called sebum. Sebum literally means tallow,
in Latin.
Without healthy sebum, your skin will become dysfunctional,
wrinkle, dry out or allow bacteria to cause spots.
Modern life and the skincare solutions we are sold are a disaster for our sebum health.
Tallow steps in where the modern world fails our skin.
Tallow balm matches almost perfectly with your sebum, prevents incursions whilst remaining fully breathable, keeps out bacteria and keeps in the nutrients that are otherwise lost.
Tallow shrinks your pores, provides a nutrient rich
barrier and supports the sebum cycle.
Lab made skincare is an attempt to mimic what tallow does naturally.
And just to top it off, being grass-fed, tallow naturally contains vitamin A, D, K and E as well as a host of other nutrients to throw into the
mix for your skin - and your body to utilize.
Skin is dysfunctional when our sebum is dysfunctional. Tallow balm remedies this.
Whether it's soap, moisturiser or washes - modern chemical products have no place on or in our bodies biggest organ.
Common questions about tallow
-
Is it safe for sensitive skin?
Tallow balm is one of the safest things for use on sensitive skin, as it is made from natural ingredients and does not contain any synthetic chemicals or fragrances that can irritate the skin.
-
Isn't it bad for the environment?
Tallow balm is good for the environment. In fact, using tallow balm supports sustainable and ethical farming practices, as it is made from the rendered fat of grass-fed cows. This fat would otherwise go to waste, and using it to make tallow balm reduces the amount of waste generated by the farming industry.
-
How does it smell unscented?
Tallow balm typically has a mild, neutral scent. Adding essential oils can elevate it and add other benefits too.
-
How is it made?
Tallow balm is made from the rendered fat of grass-fed cows. To make tallow balm, the fat is first collected from the cows and cleaned to remove any impurities. It is then heated to a high temperature to melt the fat and remove any remaining water or solids. This process, called rendering, results in a liquid tallow that is cooled and solidified then mixed with olive oil before being whipped to a balm.
-
How often should I apply it?
Apply it every morning and at night before bed. So your skin has everything it needs to manage environmental aggressors in the day and to repair while you sleep.
-
Am I supporting the meat industry?
Tallow is made from suet, which would otherwise be discarded. By using this high quality and nutrient rich byproduct you are supporting free-roaming farming and reducing pollutants that would be used to make chemical alternatives.
